12 Genre Research Fight Club Title Sequences

Fight Club

When watching the opening sequence to the film Fight Club at the beginning when we see the company title come up you can hear a water like sound on the screen but as the first name title appears it distorts out and becomes a fast pace music sound track this could represent the the fear or adrenaline the fighter is feeling. The titles appear with a flash then following after another sound track is added in, which sounds more like a thriller sound track as if there is some kind of tension which is going to happen. Whilst the titles are appearing on the screen there are images in the background which look like cells inside a body, this could represent that the film is going to focus on the body more within it. Also noticing that the title for the name of the film is no different than the rest of the titles unlike the film seven which i previously analysed. There is a lot of black being used within the background which is also a connotation of a thriller as most thrillers are dark and mysterious.

From this opening sequence it suggests that the theme could be a science related film talking about the body of a human due to the film being called Fight Club, i think the target audience for this film would be older male teenagers and male adults as this is what them generations are more into. In my opinion i do not like this opening sequence as there are no images really involved which does not help with understanding what the film is going to be about and also it does not seem interesting from looking at the titles and a black background although i do like the use of the sound tracks involved.

Image 1: Image 1 presents us with a low key background with the title directly in the middle of the screen, the title is in bright blue, linking to the background as we see unclear images in bright blue.
When looking at all these images I see that they are all similar, they all show images of cells inside the body with the titles coming up in the middle of the screen on a dark background. Some images are more close ups of the cells and some are wide shots of the cells.
